Oftentimes the quest to get the perfect photograph is fraught with challenges along the way. No matter how carefully one prepares and plans, there can be details you miss or things you never would have expected that happen and derail your plan. This particular quest had it all!

The goal was to travel to remote western Tunisia to photograph the original set piece, the Lars Homestead, built in 1976 for the original Star Wars movie, A New Hope. What transpired was a string of unexpected challenges that began as soon as I landed in the capital of Tunis.

Through the events that unfolded, my patience would be tested over and over, but ended with a photograph that I hadn't planned for, but truly love and a restored faith in humanity that further underscores what I've learned from decades of travel all over the globe: great people come in all colours and all faiths.
